OUR EXPERTISE IN SPORTS OSTEOPATHY AND PHYSIOTHERAPY

Whether you are an amateur or a high-level athlete, our sports physiotherapy and sports osteopathy professionals can treat your injuries and discomforts to help you practice your sport.

WHAT IS SPORTS ZONE ?

Playing a sport causes significant stress on our body, regardless of the sport. It is also important to know that the greater the search for performance, the more the intensity of this stress will increase.

In addition to having solid experience with sports clients, our sports physiotherapists and osteopaths are first and foremost passionate about sports, which allows them to fully understand the reality of athletes and active people.

As an expert in sports physiotherapy located in Repentigny, the objectives of the Runner’s Clinic and the Athlete’s Clinic are multiple, but here are the four main ones:

  • Optimize performance
  • Promote better recovery after a competition
  • Optimize preparation before a competition
  • Promoting a safe return to sport following an accident

Sports physiotherapy and sports osteopathy services are for all those who practice sports, both adults and children.

1. THE EVALUATION FOR THE RUNNERS?

Running is a sport accessible to all since it requires little equipment and offers very few constraints. These are some of the reasons why this sport has become more popular in Quebec in recent years. Running has many benefits for your overall health. It reduces cardiorespiratory health problems, reduces the chances of developing type II diabetes and reduces the likelihood of developing certain types of cancer. In short, this sport increases your life expectancy.

WHY SHOULD I DO A RUNNING ASSESSMENT?

The Functional Runner Assessment is an assessment designed for beginner, intermediate, and experienced runners. It consists of assessing a runner on a treadmill in order to check the running technique, the shoe and the runner’s posture.

This assessment makes it possible to:

While running is synonymous with general health, you also need to be careful and put the odds on your side by preventing injuries.

WHAT TYPES OF PAIN OR RUNNING SITUATIONS WOULD WARRANT AN ASSESSMENT ?

Our sports physiotherapists and osteopaths can treat a wide range of injuries, such as foot, hip, heel, calf injuries, etc.

Specifically, this evaluation may be necessary for runners with common injuries such as periostitis, Achilles tendonitis, band syndrome, and bursitis.

2. GENERAL SPORTS EVALUATION

WHY SHOULD I DO A SPORTS EVALUATION ?

The functional assessment is designed for three different types of athletes:

  1. Athletes who participate in sports on a regular basis
  2. People who want to start strength training in the gym or at home
  3. People who have stopped their sport due to an injury or a particular health condition and who want to start again.

In order to complete the assessment, our sports physiotherapy experts will use several pieces of equipment, including a treadmill, a multi-station machine, free weights, an Olympic barbell, and a Swiss ball.

WHAT TYPES OF PAIN OR RUNNING SITUATIONS WOULD WARRANT AN ASSESSMENT ?

The sports clinic is designed for a person who wants to return to sports in a safe manner or a return to training following an injury. The clinic is also offered to people who are new to a sport or workout and want to be guided in an exercise program adapted to their goals and lifestyle.

HOES DOES A SPORT EVALUATION WORK?

First of all, the professional will assess your general health at the Physio-Ostéo Globalité clinic. He or she will discuss with you your goals, training volume and level. Afterward, you’ll run on a treadmill. The sports physiotherapist will film you during the race with your shoes on, then without your shoes (barefoot). Finally, you will watch the video with the professional. The latter will give you advice on your technique, training methods and equipment. The advice will be given to you at the end of the meeting. You will also receive your video on a USB stick. The duration of the assessment is 90 minutes. Please note that the runner must be able to run for 20 consecutive minutes to be eligible for the Runner Functional Assessment. Otherwise, it is recommended to have physiotherapy or osteopathy care before doing this evaluation.
